Where to Stay in Punta Cana With Kids: 6 Family-Friendly All-Inclusive Resorts

Family selfie on the beach at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana.

Our crew in Punta Cana, where we found one of our easiest family trips.

Picking a resort in Punta Cana can feel overwhelming. There are dozens of all-inclusives lined up along the coast, and they range from quiet and upscale to huge and nonstop.

We stayed at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana when Jackson was 2, and it was one of the easiest family trips we've ever taken.I mean, you can’t really beat how easy an all-inclusive is. We’re all for adventure, but we wanted to test an “easy” trip before getting back to our normal shenanigans. You can read all about it in our Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana With a Toddler: Kids, Gluten-Free Dining and Our Family Review. To round out this guide, we researched five more family-friendly resorts across Punta Cana's main areas, so you can find the right fit for your crew.

To be clear: we've only stayed at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana. The other five are picks we researched, and we only included resorts with strong guest ratings, lots of reviews, and real family features like kids clubs, kids pools, and family rooms. We put a lot of research into these picks, from kids club ages to water park rules to what recent reviewers had to say. Ultimately it comes down to what fits your family style best. You do you, boo!

Which Area of Punta Cana Is Best for Families?

"Punta Cana" is really a long stretch of coast with a few different areas.

  • Cap Cana: a gated, upscale community south of the airport. It's quieter and closer to the airport (about 15 minutes), which can be a plus with little kids.

  • Bávaro: the main resort strip, with long beaches and the most resorts to choose from. Most resorts here are about 20 to 30 minutes from the airport.

  • Uvero Alto: farther north, quieter, and home to many newer resorts. The drive from the airport is longer, about 40 minutes to an hour, so keep that in mind with a toddler.

If you have little ones who don't love long car rides, Cap Cana and Bávaro are the easiest picks. If you want a newer resort and a more tucked-away feel, Uvero Alto is worth the extra drive.

Where to Stay in Cap Cana With Kids

1. Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana (Where We Stayed)

Rating: 5.0 out of 5 on Tripadvisor, from more than 7,500 reviews (as of October 2026)

Best for: families with little kids, gluten-free eaters, and anyone who wants a short airport transfer

This is where we stayed, and we loved it. Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana sits right on Juanillo Beach and shares the grounds with an adults-only sister resort, but the Ziva side is built for all ages. There's a kids club, a teen club, Canapolis Water Park with a lazy river and a toddler splash area, live shows every night, and kids menus at every restaurant. The restaurants don't take reservations, so dinner happens on toddler time.

As a family where two of us eat gluten-free, we never struggled to find food. But honestly, the staff is what we remember most. They made Jackson his own "Baby Jackson" cake and let him sing with the entertainment team at a show.

Good to know: the kids club is for ages 4 to 12, and the water park slides have a minimum height, so little ones under 4 will stay with you.

Where to Stay in Bávaro With Kids

2. Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana

Rating: 4.7 out of 5 on Tripadvisor, from more than 7,300 reviews (as of October 2026)

Best for: families who want a beautiful beach and lots of pool time

Dreams Royal Beach sits on a palm-lined stretch of Bávaro Beach and has one of the highest ratings of any big family resort in the area. The Explorer's Club is for kids ages 3 to 12, and the Core Zone teen club is for ages 13 to 17. Family travel bloggers rave about the long lazy river that winds through the resort, and they describe a splash area with a tipping bucket for younger kids. Family rooms are big, and some sleep up to six.

Good to know: it's about 25 minutes from the airport. Reviewers mention that some pools drop to full depth quickly, so keep a close eye on little swimmers.

3. Meliá Caribe Beach Resort

Rating: 4.1 out of 5 on Tripadvisor, from more than 9,900 reviews (as of October 2026)

Best for: toddlers and younger kids

If your kids are on the younger side, this one is worth a close look. Meliá Caribe Beach sits right on Bávaro Beach and has a water park called Splash Island, plus a kids club called Kidsdom with games, workshops, and parties. Family rooms and two-bedroom suites give everyone a little more space.

Good to know: the resort is spread out, so reviewers suggest bringing a stroller for toddlers. The kids club ages aren't listed on the resort's website, so confirm them before you book.

4. Paradisus Grand Cana

Rating: 8.6 out of 10 on Expedia, from more than 1,600 reviews (as of October 2026)

Best for: families who want extra space and a more upscale stay

Paradisus Grand Cana is an all-suite resort in Bávaro, so everyone gets more room to spread out. It has an Aquazone water park with slides and a kids club called Kidsdom with age-based programs. The big perk for families is the Family Concierge level, which includes private check-in, a private beach area, breakfast at a private restaurant, and upgraded suite amenities. Suites go up to two-bedroom options for bigger families.

Good to know: the beach is a short walk or quick trolley ride from the resort rather than right outside your door.

Where to Stay in Uvero Alto With Kids

5. Finest Punta Cana

Rating: 9.0 out of 10 on Expedia, from more than 2,200 reviews (as of October 2026)

Best for: babies and toddlers, and parents who want a newer resort

Finest Punta Cana might be the most baby-friendly resort on this list. Complimentary cribs can be requested before you arrive, baby amenities are available, and there are separate kids club programs for ages 3 to 6 and 7 to 11. There's a supervised toddler pool, a water park with separate areas for kids and toddlers, kids menus at every restaurant, and even a kids spa. The resort is compact, so you're never far from the beach or your room.

Good to know: it's about 40 to 50 minutes from the airport, and there isn't much within walking distance outside the resort. Part of the property is adults-only, so families stay on the family side.

6. Ocean El Faro

Rating: 8.4 out of 10 on Expedia, from more than 4,200 reviews (as of October 2026)

Best for: families who want a quieter, more relaxed stay

Ocean El Faro is a laid-back pick in Uvero Alto with a water park that includes a lazy river and a waterslide, plus a children's pool and a kids club. Suites sleep up to four, and babysitting is available for an extra fee if you want a date night. Its beach club is right next to the resort, and the beach sits in a bay protected by a reef.

Good to know: it's about 45 minutes from the airport, and reviewers mention the surf can be wavy at times.

Tips for Picking a Punta Cana Resort With Kids

Eating Gluten-Free in the Dominican Republic?

Build a personalized dietary card to show your server, so the kitchen knows exactly what you can't eat. Always double-check ingredients too.

Build My Card →
  • Share dietary needs ahead of time. If anyone in your family eats gluten-free, let the resort know before you arrive.

  • Check the kids club ages. Most start at age 3 or 4, so if you have a baby or young toddler, look for resorts with baby amenities or a toddler pool instead.

  • Look at water park height rules. Big slides usually have height minimums, so make sure there's a splash area for little ones too.

  • Think about the drive. After a flight with a toddler, a 15-minute transfer feels a lot different than an hour.

  • Ask for a crib when you book. Request it directly with the resort so it's waiting in your room.

  • Plan around seaweed season. Sargassum seaweed can wash up in the warmer months. Many resorts clean it daily, but check recent reviews for your travel dates.
