Where to Stay in Bonaire With Kids: The Best Family Resorts by Area

We stayed at Chogogo Dive & Beach Resort for our week in Bonaire, and we'd happily go back. But it's not the only great option for families, and depending on your crew, a different spot might fit better. Maybe you want to walk to dinner, have a sandy beach for little ones, or need more bedrooms.

To be upfront: Chogogo is the only place on this list we've stayed. For everything else, we only included resorts that are family friendly, highly rated, and backed by a large number of reviews. Ratings are listed as of September 2026. For how we spent our week, see Bonaire Itinerary: How We Spent Our Week.

What Families Should Look For in a Bonaire Resort

Bonaire isn't a big-resort, kids-club island. Most places are smaller and built around the water. After our week, these are the things we'd look for:

  • A kitchen or kitchenette. Groceries are easy to find, and cooking some meals made gluten-free eating so much easier for us.

  • A pool. Much of Bonaire's coastline is rocky rather than soft sand, so a pool gives kids an easy place to swim every day. The lazy river at Chogogo was Jackson's favorite spot all week.

  • A house reef with an easy entry. Look for a sandy beach, steps, or a pier so you can snorkel right from the resort.

Where to Stay in Bonaire: The Areas

Almost every family-friendly resort sits along the west coast, within a short drive of Kralendijk, the island's main town.

  • North of town: the stretch along the coast road just north of Kralendijk. Many resorts here have their own house reefs, and town is a few minutes' drive away.

  • Downtown Kralendijk: walkable to restaurants, ice cream, and the waterfront. It's the best choice if you want to leave the car parked in the evenings.

  • South of town: closer to the airport and the south-end snorkel sites like Salt Pier and Pink Beach.

Chogogo Dive & Beach Resort (Where We Stayed)

We stayed in two connected, apartment-style rooms with a sea view and a kitchenette, which worked perfectly for a family of three. The pools and lazy river were the highlight of the week for Jackson, and we picked up our rental truck (and his car seat) right at the resort. Bari Reef, Chogogo's house reef, is known for having one of the highest counts of fish species recorded in the Caribbean. We also had dinner at the on-site restaurant on our first night.

Best for: families who want pools, a lazy river, and an easy arrival day. [link: your full Chogogo review, if you have one]

Sand Dollar Condominiums

Sand Dollar is a quiet condo resort with studios and one- to three-bedroom units, each with a full kitchen and a balcony or patio facing the ocean. It shares Bari Reef, and you can get in from a sandy beach, a sundeck with stairs, or the pier. There's also a pool, tennis courts, and seaside grills, plus a Dive Friends Bonaire dive shop on site.

  • Why families like it: real kitchens, room to spread out, and one of the best house reefs on the island.

  • Good to know: it's a condo setup, so expect fewer resort extras than a full-service hotel.

  • Rating: 4.3 out of 5 on Tripadvisor, from 400+ reviews (as of September 2026).

Buddy Dive Resort

Buddy Dive is one of the largest resorts on the island, with studios and one- to three-bedroom apartments that all have kitchens. There are two pools (one with a swim-up bar), two restaurants, raised sand beach areas along the water, and a playground. You can rent your vehicle right at the resort. It's famous with divers, but it works well for families.

  • Why families like it: big apartments, two pools, a playground, and a truck rental without leaving the resort.

  • Good to know: some older units only have air conditioning in the bedrooms, so ask when you book.

  • Rating: 4.1 out of 5 on Tripadvisor, from 1,100+ reviews (as of September 2026).

Harbour Village Beach Club

Harbour Village is a boutique resort on a private, palm-shaded beach with views of Klein Bonaire, and the snorkeling starts just steps from shore. It also has a pool, a marina, a spa, and a waterfront restaurant. It's the most upscale pick on this list.

  • Why families like it: a real beach, which is rare on Bonaire, plus calm snorkeling right off the sand.

  • Good to know: book a ground-floor beachfront suite for the easiest beach access with kids. If you want a kitchenette, ask about the marina-view villas.

  • Rating: 4 out of 5 on Tripadvisor, from 1,400+ reviews (as of September 2026).

Downtown Kralendijk

Divi Flamingo Beach Resort & Casino

Divi Flamingo sits right on the water at the edge of downtown, a short walk from Kralendijk's restaurants and shops. It has two freshwater pools, two restaurants plus a beach bar, and a dive shop, and you can snorkel right off the dock. Some rooms have kitchenettes.

  • Why families like it: you can walk to dinner and ice cream, and there's snorkeling right off the resort.

  • Good to know: some reviewers say the rooms could use an update, and there's a casino on site.

  • Rating: 4 out of 5 on Tripadvisor, from 1,600+ reviews (as of September 2026).

South of Town

Delfins Beach Resort Bonaire, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Delfins is a newer resort a few minutes south of town and close to the airport. It has spacious apartments, including one- and two-bedroom options with kitchens, several pools (including a kids' pool and a lazy-river-style pool), a private sandy beach, and a pier that makes getting in and out of the water easy. Dive Friends has a shop on site, and guests sometimes spot dolphins off the pier.

  • Why families like it: a sandy beach, a kids' pool, and an easy pier entry for little snorkelers.

  • Good to know: some reviewers found the studio apartments tight, so families should book a one-bedroom or larger.

  • Rating: 4 out of 5 on Tripadvisor, from 800+ reviews (as of September 2026).

So, Where Should Your Family Stay?

  • Want pools and an easy arrival? Chogogo, where we stayed.

  • Have little ones who need a sandy beach? Delfins or Harbour Village.

  • Want to walk to dinner? Divi Flamingo.

  • Need space and a full kitchen? Sand Dollar or Buddy Dive.

Wherever you stay, you'll still want a rental car to see the island. Chogogo and Buddy Dive both have rentals on site, or you can compare Bonaire rental cars.
